Media Coverage, Creative Content Production, and Student Engagement at the Mkhitar Sebastatsi Educational Complex

During the first two days of the international COP17 conference, MediaLab at the Mkhitar Sebastatsi Educational Complex carried out extensive media activities, combining event coverage, creative content production, and hands-on student participation.

MediaLab’s work went beyond simply documenting events. Its primary objective was to present the Educational Complex’s participation from multiple perspectives through engaging, contemporary media formats, while turning COP17 into a platform where students could gain practical experience in media production and creative work.

Media Coverage and Documentation

Throughout the first two days, MediaLab provided continuous photo and video coverage of the Educational Complex’s exhibition booth and its activities.

Activities carried out:

  • Produced and published recap Reels highlighting the activities of both days.
  • Created photo series showcasing daily activities at the booth, visitors’ interest, student participation, and the lively atmosphere.
  • Produced video content presenting the Educational Complex’s environmental initiatives and its vision for a greener future.
  • Recorded additional footage for future publications and comprehensive reports.
  • Developed content in various formats for Instagram and other social media platforms.

Results:

These activities resulted in comprehensive media coverage of the Educational Complex’s participation during the first two days of COP17. The content captured not only the formal and educational aspects of the event but also the dynamic atmosphere of the booth, the active involvement of participants, and the overall spirit of the conference.

Creative and Interactive Content Production

One of MediaLab’s key priorities was to move beyond traditional event coverage by incorporating contemporary social media trends and interactive formats.

Students participated in the production of trending, entertaining, and interactive media content.

Content formats included:

  • “Pass the Phone: COP17 Edition” — A trend-based Reel featuring students and offering an informal, engaging way to introduce participants and highlight their interactions.
  • Q&A and game-based videos — Interactive content exploring COP17, environmental issues, and students’ interests while combining education with entertainment.
  • Short, dynamic Reels — Videos designed to attract younger audiences and present the Educational Complex’s participation in formats suited to social media platforms.
  • Atmospheric videos and photo series — Visual content capturing the energy of the booth, spontaneous interactions, and the authentic experience of participating in the event.

A distinctive feature of these activities was that students were not merely subjects appearing on camera. They became active contributors to the content creation process by suggesting ideas, participating in filming, and contributing to creative decisions.

Results:

MediaLab produced a diverse range of content serving informational, educational, and entertainment purposes. This approach made COP17-related topics more accessible, relevant, and engaging for younger audiences.

3. Student Engagement and Interest

One of the most significant achievements of the first two days was the strong interest students demonstrated in MediaLab’s activities.

Throughout the filming process, media production became an open and participatory experience. Students were involved in creating different types of content, regardless of whether they were already members of the core MediaLab team or simply interested in exploring media production.

Key examples of student engagement included:

  • Taking initiative and actively participating in the production of Reels and interview-based videos.
  • Suggesting new ideas and creative approaches.
  • Expressing interest in participating in filming and joining the media team.
  • Gaining experience in teamwork, communication, and speaking confidently on camera.
  • Developing a growing interest in the overall process of media content creation.

Most importantly, the COP17 environment allowed students to experience media production not as an isolated classroom assignment, but as authentic work with real public relevance.

Results:

MediaLab also became a platform for student involvement and collaboration. It created an environment where interested students could experiment with their ideas, contribute to real media productions, and gradually develop practical skills.

Practical Outcomes and Achievements

The significance of MediaLab’s work during the first two days should be assessed not only through the content published but also through the practical experience gained by the media team and participating students.

Media Production Outcomes

  • Produced and published recap videos, informational materials, and creative media content.
  • Ensured comprehensive coverage of the Educational Complex’s exhibition booth and its activities.
  • Experimented with trending and interactive social media formats.
  • Collected additional photo and video material for future publications.

Educational and Organizational Outcomes

  • Students gained hands-on experience covering a real event through various media formats.
  • Students developed their ability to respond quickly to changing situations, collaborate in teams, generate creative ideas, and communicate confidently on camera.
  • Additional students interested in media production became involved in the activities.
  • MediaLab expanded beyond its core team, becoming a more open, participatory, and collaborative initiative.

Overall Evaluation and Future Activities

The first two days of COP17 represented a productive period of practical and creative work for MediaLab.

The main achievement was not simply the successful organization of media coverage. More importantly, an active media production environment was established in which students did not merely report on the event but directly contributed to shaping its story through media.

The experience gained during these first two days provides a strong foundation for expanding creative content formats, increasing student participation, conducting additional interviews, and presenting the Educational Complex’s environmental initiatives in greater depth throughout the following days.

Key outcomes of MediaLab’s first two days:

Comprehensive media coverage, original creative content, active student engagement, and valuable hands-on experience in a real-world media production environment.

Ultimately, COP17 became more than an event to be covered by MediaLab. It developed into a dynamic educational and creative platform where media production supported student initiative, collaboration, and self-expression.
